ParentMail

In response to valued parental feedback, we are taking steps to further improve the methods we use to let you know about what’s going on in school. However, sending paper letters home can be rather ‘hit and miss’ with letters often going astray on the way!

We are also increasingly aware of the environmental impact and substantial cost associated with the amount of paper and photocopying involved.

To help improve these areas we have signed up to a service called ParentMail®, which is used by over 2,000 schools across the UK to communicate with parents by email and text message. More significantly, ParentMail is used by Stocksbridge Nursery Infant School and a similar school communication system is used by Stocksbridge High School.

ParentMail will be beneficial to you because:
• Messages will get to you reliably
• We can send messages directly to mums and dads at the same time
• You will quickly know about important or urgent messages
• We can tell you more about what’s going on at the school

To use ParentMail® we need to collect your email addresses and mobile numbers. We would therefore ask you to complete the yellow form (sent home 26/06/09) and return it to us by Thursday 9th July 2009.

Please be assured that ParentMail® is registered with the Data Protection Registrar and guarantees that all information supplied will be kept private. There is also NO advertising associated with the scheme.

Magna & Crucial Crew Visit Y6 - 24.6.09

Dear Parent/Guardian

We have arranged a Y6 visit to Magna (am) – Crucial Crew (pm).

The visit is on Wednesday 24th June 2009. We will leave school at 9.00 am.

The coach will leave Magna at 2.45 pm. We will be back at school at approximately 3.30 pm. Your child will need a packed lunch and a drink. Children are to wear normal school uniform and if your child does require an inhaler, can you please ensure that they bring it with them.

The trip is costing £428.50 in total. Magna is £188.50 and the Coach is £240.00. However, because of the number of trips this half term, school is covering the cost of this.

Yours sincerely

Woodbourn Road Athletics Final

Dear Parent/Guardian

Your child has been successful in reaching the Final of the Sheffield Outdoor Athletics competition at Woodbourn Road on Thursday 25th June. The competition is due to start at 4.00 pm till approximately 7.00 pm.

Your child will need the correct Kit: Red School Athletics T-Shirt
Blue/Black Shorts
Trainers

Could your child also bring a drink, a snack, plus an inhaler if necessary.

Unlike last time when school provided a coach to transport the children to and from the competition, we will need parents to help provide lifts to and from Woodbourn Road, for all the children.

Please could you return the permission slip below, and indicate if you could help with lifts. You will need to have business use insurance. Also, could you inform us if you are happy for your child to receive a lift from a teacher/parent

Thank you for your continued support.

Yours sincerely

Mrs S Gaymond
Deputy Headteacher

Y4 Trip to RSPB Old Moor, Barnsley

Dear Parent/Guardian

Year 4 visit to RSPB Old Moor

We plan to take the children in Year 4 on a school visit to the RSPB site Old Moor, Barnsley.

The dates of the visit will be:

Tuesday 7th July 2009 for Y4A and half of the children in Y4S.

Wednesday 8th July 2009 for Y4K and half of the children in Y4S.

If your child is in Y4S, please note the day on which your child will be going on the trip.

Tuesday 7th July/Wednesday 8th July 2009

The trip to the RSPB site is linked to the Year 4 Science curriculum Habitats. During the visit the children will take part in various activities related to habitats and food chains. They will also have the opportunity to take part in bird watching and pond dipping.

The cost to school will be £306.00 to visit the RSPB site and the cost of the coaches will be £350.00. This cost divided by 68 pupils in the year group = £9.64/child. We therefore ask for a contribution of £6.00 towards the cost of this visit.

This visit will take place within normal school hours. The children need to be at school for a prompt 8.55 am start on the day. The coach will leave at approximately 9.15 am and return to school for approximately 3.00 pm. The children will then leave school as normal at 3.10 pm.

This is an outdoor activity that will involve walking
therefore it is essential that your child has appropriate clothing. Various activities will also involve lying prone or sitting and kneeling outdoors. Your child will require:

• A waterproof coat/jacket (with hood)
• A hat/sun cream, should it be sunny
• Long trousers (preferably not denim jeans as they may become wet and clammy)
• Appropriate shoes/trainers that your child finds comfortable to walk in (no flip flops, sandals etc)
• School jumper and t-shirt should be worn

Please ensure that your child is provided with a packed lunch, together with a drink (no glass bottles or fizzy drinks please). If your child usually has a meal provided by the authority, they will receive a packed lunch. If your child requires an inhaler, please ensure that they bring it with them on the day.

There is a shop on the site that children can visit. We ask that they bring no more than £2.50 please.

Please sign and return the attached permission slip below. Please retain the above information for your own reference.

Yours sincerely
